Britt says: I am considering this part of the on-going battle of Virginia vs Maryland…and it’s clearly Virginia for the win. Why must all the Housewives shows that come out of the DMV make us look so bad?!

Darby says: I am not a big fan of Real Housewives to begin with, making this a biased opinion, but I am definitely in favor of Mercy Street. It is based here in Alexandria and a historical fiction – what’s not to love?

Britt says: Pattern on pattern is not for me! I’ll mix a bold floral with a pair of navy pants.

Darby says: Absolutely! If you are new to mixing patterns, try to do one big pattern with one small. For example, if you wear a big, bold floral, pair it with a tiny dot or stripe.

Darby says: Carluccio’s opened their first U.S. location here in Alexandria, and I have wanted to eat there since its opening last year.

Britt says: I’m torn between our two current favorites. Magnolias is phenomenal — the mixologist at the upstairs bar can whip up a classic 1920s cocktails that will just wow you. Or then there’s Sonoma Cellar, where the owners become your friends, you can dine by their fire pit, and their pork chop will never disappoint.

Darby says: When it comes to make-up I am pretty traditional, so if I had to try one I would add the extra bronzer.

Britt says: I’m a neutral gal — less is more. Lots of bronze for me!
