My kids happen to go to a school with a uniform, and every morning I thank the Lord a little bit for this uniform. You see, by 8:15 I am usually yelling like a lunatic as I try to get my kids fully clothed, fed, and out the door with lunches packed. If I had the added struggle of arguing with them about what to wear, especially with my 5th grade daughter who wants to dress like Taylor Swift, I would snap.
Both my kids complain about their uniform, but I try to explain to them the simplicity it creates and how it makes life easier.
The sisters-in-law behind Veronica Beard, yes they are both named Veronica and married brothers, get this as well. When they launched their line in 2010, it started with the idea of creating a uniform. They are both busy, working moms with eight children between them and wanted great looking clothes that were easy to put together. They wanted to make sure they could get through a day and feel chic and covered.
Since we opened our doors a year ago this brand has consistently remained our most popular, and I think it is because they get what we need. The cuts are forgiving and help hide many of our trouble spots. They do critically helpful simple things, like having the back of shirts slightly longer than the front, or using heavier fabrics with layering pieces so if you need to take off a blazer jacket the shirts can be worn alone.
It was only logical that the next step for Veronica Beard was to launch shoes and a full denim collection, giving us all a one-stop-shopping brand.
The shoe collection launched with nine different styles and The Shoe Hive is carrying six of our favorite picks from their inaugural collection. When asked about what they think of when designing their shoes, they said that wanted them to be hard-wired for real life. They were to be comfortable but could take you through the many different places you go in a day.
The new denim line is no different. They kept the collection tight and focused on the skinny jean with either a mid- or high-rise since these are the most flattering fits. They spent countless hours perfecting the fit and fabric so they wouldn’t stretch or lose their shape. They even added a special feature of a hidden skinny pocket in the front that creates a flattering slimming effect. You can’t beat that!
