Lizzie Fortunato Trunk Show At The Hive

Last year was going to be a major spring for me. The Fortunato sisters of the brand Lizzie Fortunato were going to be in person at my store. I was so excited, and after 16 years in business, I felt like I had finally made it. It is not often that a store my size gets the designer to make an appearance. I wasn’t just getting the designer, I was getting the twin sister duo that is the creative and business side of the brand. Here we are a year later, and it is time for another trunk show, but we do have a wait another year to introduce these ladies to everyone in Alexandria. But don’t worry, we will make it happen, and we are going to throw one heck of a party for them.

If you follow them on Instagram, you know that Lizzie and Kathryn are as tight as two sisters can be. They even had babies at the same time last summer. Their respect for each other and overall kindness is seen in the pieces they create. You can also tell what amazing humans they are by the people that work at the company. Cy and Leah are just two of the folks we deal with, and it is truly a joy to talk to them. When the sisters were out on maternity leave, they showed us the collections virtually, and it was of the most fun virtual buys I have done, and I have done a lot of them!

This springs collection is one of my favorites (okay, I might say that every season but it just keeps getting better and better). The Winnie bag is one of my personal favorites, I can’t explain my attraction to this piece, but I have to have it and the Soho collar is my other must have. I mean, the actual list of the pieces I want is very, very long. The pieces are happy and hopeful and can’t help but bring a smile to your face.

The other thing you know if you follow them on the gram is that they have insane style. They can accessorize and layer like nobody else. I mean, I guess that is why they do what they do. I highly recommend following them for fashion and home inspiration. I also highly recommend stopping in and checking out the trunk show or shopping online. You don’t want to miss out.

I spent the first part of my career as a copy-writer who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive. At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.

Heard the buzz? The Shoe Hive & The Hive are a pair of luxury boutiques in Old Town Alexandria. Featuring both big name designers like Rag & Bone and Stuart Weitzman and smaller brands like AGL and L'Agence, our unique selection and impeccable service are what set us apart.
