Comfort and Style at the Marion Parke Trunk Show

Here we go! It’s week three of our spring trunk show series and once again it is a brand owned and operated by women. I realize I have gone on and on about Marion Parke in past posts, but there is a good reason. Of course, it took a woman to make shoes that are fashionable and comfortable.

This event is a little easier to navigate than most shows because Marion has all of her inventory in Minnesota, and of course, mid-westerners like to make things easy; I say that as a proud mid-westerner myself. And if something is on Marion’s website, she will send it to us – which isn’t usually the case with most brands. Since she operates her own website and warehouse, it makes things so easy on us.

This trunk show is timely. After a warm-ish week, a lot of women have started getting out their spring shoes and realized it is time for a refresh. If that’s you, this is your weekend.

Maybe last spring when the world shut down, you lived in your Birkenstocks. I did, for the record, and if you’re one of those, maybe it is time to elevate your comfortable sandal game. We have the shoes for you.

Maybe you are finally ready to put on something with a little bit of a heel – a chunky heel of course – and if so, this is the event for you. Or how about a comfortable high wedge? She has that covered too.

Don’t get me wrong, Marion Parke has high heels as well and we are happy to get them in for folks to try.

We just can’t say enough great things about these shoes and this company. And we aren’t the only ones saying great things. Open Vogue, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, or even Forbes and they are talking about all the great things Marion Parke is doing. She is a podiatric surgeon turned fashion mogul, who also decided to stay in Minnesota and not move to New York City like most fashion companies – wanting to raise her three children in the place she loved – she is the kind of person I look up to and the type of brand I want to support. It doesn’t “hurt” that her shoes don’t make my feet hurt after I work all day. Shop online or in store March 18 – March 21. And of course, everything is 20 percent off.

I spent the first part of my career as a copy-writer who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive. At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.

Heard the buzz? The Shoe Hive & The Hive are a pair of luxury boutiques in Old Town Alexandria. Featuring both big name designers like Rag & Bone and Stuart Weitzman and smaller brands like AGL and L'Agence, our unique selection and impeccable service are what set us apart.
