what to wear: florals

Elizabeth and I had the opportunity to speak in front of the Belle Haven Women’s Club on the topic of Runway To Reality ~ A guide to Spring/Summer 2015. Speaking engagements are not my favorite thing to do as I still get a case of the jitters, but when you work with a friend such as Elizabeth, there’s always laughter involved. One of the trends I spoke about was bold florals so I took the opportunity to choose a dress to represent the trend. This one is from Kiskadee by Nicole Miller. I was recently interviewed by our own Alexandria Stylebook editor-in-chief, Christen Kinard. She asked me how I would describe my style. My answer…perfectly imperfect. Finding every element to an outfit should never be too matchy-matchy. The hair could be tousled, jewelry can be more eclectic…this draws more interest overall.

I finished this evening’s look with the new Nudist from Stuart Weitzman, my own favorite earrings (which I wear frequently), and some ASHA bangles. Every season I get one new lip color and this spring it was Lipstick Queen’s Chinatown collection in a perfect coral-pink (from Bellacara of course!). I love the sheer color and it doesn’t require a mirror to apply! The dress was more than comfortable…and except for one wardrobe malfunction where the audio box fell down the back of the dress, the event went off without a hitch! Like I said…there’s always laughter with Elizabeth!
