what to wear: sweater weather
I recently wrote, on the Style Speaks blog, about sweaters, including my favorite resources, tips for buying and the essential extras for creating outfits around your sweaters. One of my favorite local resources for sweaters is Kiskadee, they always carry so many fun and stylish options.
Think outside the box when deciding what to add to your sweater wardrobe. Avoid stocking up on too many of the usual basics: neutral v-necks, crew necks and cardigans. Instead, look for sweater coats, sweater dresses, vests, pieces you can layer such as sweater capes or pullovers, bold colors, dressy sweaters, printed sweaters, sweaters with fringe. Sweaters sound nice and cozy now but by January, you’re going to be so tired of them, so why not fill your wardrobe with unique styles that you can mix and match throughout the season? And, don’t forget the essential extras: black leggings, skinny jeans, boots, booties, scarves, under layers, statement earrings, and a chambray shirt all make great layering and accessorizing options for your sweater collection.
