what to wear: end-of-summer beauty

You may expect a wardrobe consultant to be a beauty pro as well, but that is not the case for me. I love getting dressed and accessorizing but, I will admit, I get lazy about hair and make-up. Especially at the end of the summer when I just want to put on some moisturizer, throw my hair in a pony tail and go. So, I popped over to Bellacara to get some end-of-summer beauty inspiration from Angela and her new make-up artist, Elizabeth, before I get complacent and take the whole ‘good enough’ thing too far.

My favorite tip from Angela was to take the opportunity to use up your current products before you switch over for the new season. As the season changes and your skin changes with it, you won’t want to use the same products come fall and winter and by this time next year, your current products will be expired. So, instead of getting lazy at the end of the season, I’m inspired to up the glamour for end-of-summer by actually using all of my current products on a regular basis. Elizabeth had a great tip for creating a dewy look: rub a small drop of moisturizer between your hands until it’s a bit warm and then cup your hands over your face patting the moisturizer in a bit. I have dry skin so I’m always all over a more dewy look, especially in summer time. And, here’s the completed look: what do you think?

2014 8.17 Look of the Day

Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. We used this as both foundation and concealer, which I love! Anything to simplify my routine is fabulous.

Stila “Lilium” Convertible Cheek Color. I’ve traditionally used a powder cheek color and have been wanting to try a cream cheek color for a while. I liked the natural, dewy look of this one.

Kevyn Aucoin Eyeshadow in Hint of Peach and Taupey Grey. This was my first personal experience with Kevyn Aucoin and I think Elizabeth and Angela created a new fan!

Lipstick Queen Lipstick in Saint “Coral”. I’m terrible about wearing lipstick and only put it on for special occasions. This is a color that felt good for everyday, though.

Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kohl Liner and Nouba Black Mascarone Mascara. Elizabeth pushed me out of my comfort zone with more dramatic eyes and I loved how long my eyelashes looked.

The extras: Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder “Candlelight” Highlighter; Smashbox “Brunette” Brow Tech Trio; Vincent Longo Diamond Up Gloss in “Diamond Rose”

All product from Bellacara.
