While it used to be that outerwear was an afterthought, Polar Vortex Chic is a prominent trend this fall and winter season. The puffy vest has risen from the purgatory of ’80s fashion – no longer will it just be Marty McFly’s life preserver. Both mainstream outdoor-wear brands and European labels have featured puffy vests with sleeker cuts and less bulk, reviving this hiking trail staple as a women’s fashion must-have.
The puffy vest also has proven much more versatile this season. While I was perusing the merchandise at Kiskadee, I found this fabulous black Coatology puffy vest. What sets it apart is its length and silhouette – it is a little longer and nipped in at the waist. Because it has a more refined style than past puffy vests, it will work equally well for both casual and dressier occasions. We styled it three ways:
Sporty Spice
The most fun part of cold-weather clothing is being able to layer and mix textures. The puffy vest doesn’t have to always be over a sweater. With this great furry jacket and slip-on sneakers, watching your kids’ soccer game never looked so chic.
Office-Ready
A puffy vest isn’t just for weekend either. Paired with tailored trousers and a classic white collared shirt, it can be a great jacket for those chilly days commuting to the office.
Cozy Date Night
We love that today’s puffy vest – with its longer, more tailored silhouette and shiny finish – feels dressier. So why not go ahead and dress it up?
All shoes, accessories, and the furry jacket are from The Shoe Hive. Jeans, leather leggings, window pane pants, puffy vest, tunic dress are from Kiskadee. Wrap coat and scarf from Coco Blanca.
