style tips for working at home

Working from home poses a unique set of challenges when dressing in the morning. If you work at home regularly, you’ve probably faced the closet conundrum of debating whether you should just stay in your pjs or throw on your yoga pants or actually get dressed for the day. Most days, I’m out and about with clients but I usually have one day a week that I primarily work from my home office. I find that I feel better (and studies have shown it too!) when I get dressed for my work day even though I won’t be seeing clients. But, let’s be honest, I want to be especially comfy and put in a bit less effort on these days (back to that “good enough” strategy we talked about a couple of weeks ago). Here are some of my go to wardrobe pieces and beauty items for my summertime work at home days.

A Maxi Dress. A comfy maxi dress is an easy throw on piece that still feels put together. Gotta love one piece dressing!
Boyfriend Jeans. Boyfriend jeans are a stylish option that will feel a little more comfy sitting around in than more fitted skinny jeans.
Jersey Skirt. Anything jersey feels like you’re still in your pjs but looks way more stylish.
Striped Tee. You can never go wrong with a striped tee. Pair with your boyfriend jeans or jersey skirt.
Draped Cardigan. Even at home, I sometimes get a little chilled in the AC and like to keep a neutral draped cardigan to layer over my maxi dress or striped tee.
Simple Jewelry. Put less time into accessorizing on these days by having a go-to delicate pendant necklace, stud earrings, and delicate ring to throw on.
Easy Makeup. A little tinted moisturizer, mascara (always mascara!), and cheek color will take about three minutes to put on and will give your look a little more polish.

By taking the time to put yourself together on work at home days, you won’t be embarrassed to run out to the mailbox or answer the door and you’ll be ready to go at a moment’s notice if you decide to run out for an errand, lunch or change of scenery at the coffee shop.

These are great tips! Whenever I work from home, I always get dressed, even to the point of putting on nice shoes! As you said, not only do you feel better but I’ve also found that I think and behave more professionally too!
