From Laura: Yoga has always been a crucial element for me to ground myself in times of stress and turmoil. It provides meditation through movement and breath, distraction from all the thoughts swirling around inside our heads, and the invigoration of pushing our bodies. Have you been thinking of making yoga part of your life in 2017? Join me on New Year’s day for a special workshop designed to balance you out as the year begins.
Practice with me in this two-part New Year’s day class. Begin with a 45 minute hot, vigorous flow to work the body and strengthen the muscles. After pushing to your limit, we slow the body down and utilize that built up body heat to create deep supported stretches and restorative poses for 45 minutes. Restorative poses are accompanied by hands on assists to help you get deeper into the stretches. Challenge your body and your mind as you push yourself, and then ask yourself to slow down and breathe. 9:30-11am or 11:30am-1pm.

Mind the Mat Pilates & Yoga was founded in 2008 by Megan Brown, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Polestar Certified Practitioner of Pilates for Rehabilitation and Sara VanderGoot, Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher (e-RYT 200, RYT 500). In their private practices as physical therapist and massage therapist respectively Megan and Sara observed that many of their clients were coming in with similar needs: relief for neck and shoulder tension and low back pain as well as a desire for more flexibility in hips and legs, stability in joints, and core strength.
Together Megan and Sara carefully crafted a curriculum of Pilates and yoga classes to address needs for clients who are pregnant, postpartum, have injuries or limitations, who are new to Pilates and yoga, and for those who are advanced students and are looking for an extra challenge.
