sizing gone wrong
Working in retail, you quickly pick up on the different ways that women shop. Whether they want to “play” or spend their time more efficiently. Whether they want advice or prefer to be left alone to make their choices. None of it is wrong, of course. Except for this: when women only shop “their size,” and attach too much importance to a label with a number on it.
The truth is that I can wear anything from an extra-small to a large depending on the designer. And I vary nearly as much in shoes too! Sizing is different for every brand. It can change depending on where the item is made, and can also depend on factors such as the cut, fabric, and quality of the piece in question.
My best advice is to listen to the sales associates. They are hopefully familiar with the brands that they carry, and obviously want you to love the way you look in something you try on at their store. So, if at first you don’t see your size, ask someone how the piece is fitting. And if you do find your size, always try it on!
