pajama party

Now that kids are back in school, the social calendar is starting to get busy. Finding something to wear at the last minute is never enjoyable and an age where so much of our world is instantaneous, finding an outfit for a party is not. Do yourself a favor this year and start planning out some looks that will get you out the door quickly.

Here is an easy and elegant idea that I found tucked into the racks at Coco Blanca. When worn together, two pieces translate to chic party attire, but then each piece can still be worn separately. In these days of social media and constant photo taking, separates give us far more choices than the “one and done” party dress. In fact, it was just this “one and done” party dress that inspired Rent the Runway. Finding ways to make the most of my investments and having my separates work laterally in my wardrobe is an ongoing goal of mine.

We’ve discussed how “athleisure” bridges our athletic efforts into our day to day wardrobe. What I am showcasing here is a similar concept that bridges your evening look around pajamas. I am a self-professed comfort junkie and clothing that can be worn to a party and feel as comfy as what you wear to bed is genius. This look requires a great shoe, a manicure and very subtle make-up. I’m wearing a lipstick from Vincent Longo in Putna Spice from Bellacara–my go-to burgundy lip color for fall and winter that Elizabeth helped me pick out last year.

The shoes are from The Shoe Hive, although they are from a few years ago. I like to find ways to build upon items I already own and this outfit is a great accent to my party shoes.

There are a lot of looks similar to this one available in stores now. My suggestion is to take a look at what you own in the way of “party” shoes and jewelry and look for an outfit that will compliment those items. If they happen to be super comfy and have the ability to be worn to bed, even better!
