You’ve Got the Denim…Now What Goes on TOP?!

OK, you get it. Denim has all different types of influence on your style for fall. Different shapes, different shades, different details, etc, so you’ve updated your denim…but, now what?!

I’ve asked around and I think, most resoundingly, the items that women are pining for this season are…great tops.

I have created some looks below to help you get your outfits together, all with something we own plenty of, DENIM, and as a bonus I’ve added a little extra credit to each look. Think “How to Elevate” if you are wearing something to the grocery store, and then all of a sudden you realize you have parent teacher conferences coming up later at the school. Superhero home, add this one little extra credit piece to the outfit, and it will take you from causal and comfortable to casual chic.

The T-Shirt

The classic look, and frankly, I live in it. I know if I’m seen around town one more time in my “RELAX” t-shirt by Elizabeth and James, I may be asked if I own anything else.

How To Elevate…

Throw on a blazer. Or, add some statement earrings. Or, pop on a heel and some lipstick (that’s all we really need to take over the world, right?!).

The Silk Blouse

I prefer to use a patterned statement blouse and let my top do the talking, but I’ve included a couple of solid blouses as well for you to get the picture ( or if prints aren’t your thing.)

How To Elevate

It’s all about the accessories here. Add a statement ring or cuff bracelet and some hefty earrings…sensing a theme here? Earrings can change everything.

The Basic Sweater

My New England roots make this my second favorite to the t-shirt. I can’t get enough of a cashmere sweater in the winter. The key is choosing the sweater that will feel basic, but also have some sort of special detail to make it shine.
