my new purse is making my wallet look bad
In February, I got a new purse. My husband and my mother had given me a combination of cash and gift cards that allowed me to treat myself to a beautiful bag. As soon as I got everything moved over to it, I realized that I no longer liked my wallet. And I hadn’t liked my wallet for a long time.
It was just the wrong wallet for me. I don’t carry much cash (much to my husband’s chagrin). Yet I somehow find myself with a lot of change! And it seems as if I have a card for everything these days – insurance cards, drivers license, debit card, credit card, gas card, vehicle registration, frequent traveler cards. My wallet was an embarrassment to me!
This past week, I decided it was finally time to do something about it. As an advocate of shopping all things local, I started my quest with my sisters at Alexandria Stylebook.

My first stop was in Del Ray at Kiskadee. Sam showed me a selection of wallets and change purses and I was immediately drawn to the Hobo Lauren Wallet. This double framed clutch wallet has a magnetic closure, is made of beautiful leather, has a smart phone pocket, and a credit card wall (all the better for organizing all those cards!) Another advantage is that the company is based in Annapolis, MD which is also a plus on the “Shop Local” side!
My next visit was to The Shoe Hive. I knew I would find beautiful selections from Kate Spade and Tory Burch! And I was not disappointed! I was intrigued by the Tory Burch SmartPhone Wristlet, with its detachable wrist strap (so I could use it as a wallet or an easy on the go piece!), zip around closure, and multiple pockets. All in such a little bag!
Of course, I had to peruse the pieces at my own store, Zoe Boutique! While we haven’t carried a lot of bags and wallets, we’ve found our customers love our credit card wallets and change purses. My favorite is the Alexandra Satine Altamira! This mini wallet is great for credit cards and coins and is perfect for the minimalist!
There really is a solution for everyone. And you don’t even need to leave Alexandria to find it!

Susan, I love your picks! Honestly, the Lauren clutch has been on our wish list for ages, and I’ve been coveting that Tory wristlet/wallet since I first saw it at The Shoe Hive. Loving the aqua Alexandra Satine– not big enough for all I stuff into my wallet, but I’m thinking it would be a great place to stash a couple of lipsticks or business cards! I think my wishlist just got a little longer!
