Mind the Mat’s How-To for Online Classes

We will get through this together.

As we’ve temporarily suspended in-person classes, we are now offering Digital Classes at this time. We urge you to stay healthy and join us from the comfort of your home. We care about you! Please stay safe.

Two Platforms for Digital Access (Please Read Carefully):

1) Pre-Recorded Classes in our Online Library

Steps to access pre-recorded classes:

  • • Log into your Mind the Mat account via your computer (doesn’t work on the app). You must be logged in.
  • • Then click this link to purchase the online videos (it’s free, but you have to purchase for $0.00)
  • • Once you have made this “purchase” MindBody Online will take you to the link for online videos. You’ll see two videos, one yoga, one PBC. New videos added as we stock up. If you can’t access the links, your pop-up blocker needs to be turned off.
  • • This perk is for monthly members and weekly digital access pass holders only (scroll down to find out how to get this).

2) Facebook LIVE streaming via Specific Facebook Groups

Steps to access Facebook LIVE classes:

  • • To see the Facebook LIVE class schedule, visit our usual class schedule by logging in from our website and viewing our schedule on MindBody Online. We are working on this schedule day by day, class by class, so please know there may be some changes moving forward.
  • • Each class has a designated Facebook Page and associated Facebook Group based on genre of class and studio location (Pilates vs.Yoga, Arlington vs. Alexandria) join them all (see next step).
  • • Please click below links and request to join these FB Groups if you are a monthly member, if you are not, read below about our weekly digital access pass to be our guest, then follow these steps.
  • • For now, please continue to sign up for classes as it helps us communicate with you.

  • The latest from Megan
Megan Brown, physical therapist, Pilates instructor, mother and co-founder of Mind the Mat Pilates & Yoga in Alexandria, VA, likes to goof around. Yet her commitment to her students and her skill set in the field is no joke. After graduating from University of Virginia with a degree in Sports Medicine, Megan went on to receive her Masters in Physical Therapy and eventually her Doctorate in the profession. Although Pilates was never part of the plan, the method changed the way she treated patients, positively re-directed her career path and enhanced her own active lifestyle. Customized Pilates instruction is her specialty–she designs classes based on clients needs: athletes, new moms, rehabilitation or just for fun (why be serious all the time?). Pilates + Yoga is the best of both worlds, hence the creation of Mind the Mat studios providing classes for all—in every walk of life.

Mind the Mat Pilates & Yoga was founded in 2008 by Megan Brown, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Polestar Certified Practitioner of Pilates for Rehabilitation and Sara VanderGoot, Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher (e-RYT 200, RYT 500). In their private practices as physical therapist and massage therapist respectively Megan and Sara observed that many of their clients were coming in with similar needs: relief for neck and shoulder tension and low back pain as well as a desire for more flexibility in hips and legs, stability in joints, and core strength.

Together Megan and Sara carefully crafted a curriculum of Pilates and yoga classes to address needs for clients who are pregnant, postpartum, have injuries or limitations, who are new to Pilates and yoga, and for those who are advanced students and are looking for an extra challenge.
