What color metallic should you go with, you ask? I think everyone needs some gold and some silver in their wardrobe, but typically each person prefers one over the other. For instance, I primarily wear gold, but keep a few pieces of silver jewelry on hand in case I need silver to pair with grays, etc.
And yes, it is also okay to mix up your metals! Try mixing gold and rose gold or gold and silver.
