Here’s the thing about moms: We all have one, we were all born. Just like our anatomy, it’s one of the consistencies in our biology of being human. But, in contrast, we all have different relationships with our moms. Some are good and some, not so much. I want to acknowledge that. Maybe you recently lost your mom and you are in mourning — the thought of Mother’s Day approaching further breaks your heart. We want to honor you and that relationship.
The simple fact is, whether you are still close with her, whether she has passed, or maybe you never met her, there is no denying this fact: she made you. Maybe her influence truly shaped who you are today, or maybe because of her absence someone else positively impacted you. But the fact remains, you were made by mama. To celebrate Mom this entire month, we are honoring one of her biggest accomplishments…YOU.

We’ve got a lot going on at Mind the Mat. We do it all, from newborns to seniors and everyone in between. Here’s a quick reference:
Mind the Mat Pilates & Yoga was founded in 2008 by Megan Brown, Doctor of Physical Therapy and Polestar Certified Practitioner of Pilates for Rehabilitation and Sara VanderGoot, Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and Registered Yoga Teacher (e-RYT 200, RYT 500). In their private practices as physical therapist and massage therapist respectively Megan and Sara observed that many of their clients were coming in with similar needs: relief for neck and shoulder tension and low back pain as well as a desire for more flexibility in hips and legs, stability in joints, and core strength.
Together Megan and Sara carefully crafted a curriculum of Pilates and yoga classes to address needs for clients who are pregnant, postpartum, have injuries or limitations, who are new to Pilates and yoga, and for those who are advanced students and are looking for an extra challenge.
