I’m stuck in a style rut. I’m sure I can mostly blame this on my pregnancy and not wanting to be in anything other than leggings and a big sweater. But, excuses are excuses. I’m ready to try a few new things, like a bright color here and there. I think there are a few ways to do this…
These pops of colors will slowly bring us into the world of color. I’m stuck in the days of black and gray. I need to embrace a little boldness. Purple, which personally is not my favorite color, is huge for spring, but I do think it can complement many other colors (including black and gray, ha!) as an accessory.
While I just mentioned purple as a big spring color, yellow is also huge. I am particularly fond of a yellow dress we ordered from Joie that will be coming in April. It’s too fun, and I can’t spoil the surprise with a picture. I’m planning to pair it with a denim jacket to tone down the yellow by my face.
Pairing a solid with a complementary colored accessory (bust out those color wheels, friends!) will drive the bold, colorful look without too much pattern in the mix. Imagine a citron yellow dress paired with purple accessories! Who said I couldn’t do color!? This accessory could always be a scarf that has a pattern of its own.
While this is entirely out of my comfort zone, this may be the necessary progression for someone who feels like they have plenty of color in their wardrobe, but want a little more spunk and fun!
