the less is more challenge

I’ve been running into lots of friends who are Stylebook followers lately. Everyone LOVES the challenges so I’ve decided to come up with my own challenge that may break up the rest of the winter and hopefully help you think of new ways to wear what you already own. Closets can frustrate us at times with the lack of inspiration they offer. Part of the reason is that we see the clothes the same way and many times need someone like a stylist to shed light on other ways to wear our garments.

Here’s the 10 day challenge…

Select 10 items in your wardrobe. These pieces will be all you can wear for the next 10 days. See how many different ways you can wear those pieces using only accessories to create new looks. If you want to step it up a notch, make your outerwear and your footwear part of those 10 items. I will document my own journey through this on Instagram and on my site to show anyone who is interested how you don’t have to sacrifice style with minimal pieces. Check out what I have selected where I will give a brief reason why I chose each item. This is similar to going on a trip when you have to make decisions on what you’re going to pack. I’m hoping to show the Stylebook audience that there can be a formula to dressing that isn’t boring and still offers creativity ~ it also does’t require a whole lot of clothing, just thoughtfulness to how you will wear what you have.

Tapping into this exercise every now and then is a good way to check whether you’re purchasing the right pieces. It will keep you from buying too many of the one hit wonders and force you to think outside the box.

If you are intrigued and want to find out more about these types of exercises and how to put your own closet together, one of my clients (who started working with me through Stylebook) will be hosting an event at the end of this month and we are opening 4 spots up to Stylebook readers. There is no fee to attend and if you would like to find out more, please email me at alicia@tullebox.net. I will be able to confirm the exact date (currently Feb 22nd in the afternoon), time and location (it will be in Old Town). Based on the interest, we may be able to open it up to more guests.

PS A few members of the Stylebook team have already agreed to take on the challenge as well as a few local bloggers. We’ll be sharing their outfits on Twitter and Instagram, but please tag us if you choose to take on the challenge too and use #Stylebook10for10.
