Food for Thought…Keeping It Fresh and Enticing

Cheers to the ever-growing foodie revolution and the local farmers’ markets who help source our palates. I’m looking forward to my next visit in Alexandria where I’ll be sure to visit the Old Town Farmers Market — which is the oldest farmers’ market in the country — and is open year round, every Saturday from 7AM-Noon. Our beautiful intern, Alexa Scully, who attends University of Georgia, found the perfect outfit and tote by FloraBella and Three Dots at Coco Blanca for her recent trip to the Old Town Farmer’s Market.

I love to cook and am always cutting out recipes from magazines and newspapers, and filing them in my ever-growing folder tucked between my cookbooks. And please tell me I’m not the only one guilty of tearing out recipes from magazines I’ve read in doctors’ offices and hair salons. I get so excited about trying new menus so I take great care of my recipe collection—starring the ones that are keepers and making edit notes on the ones that need improving.

Fresh_Eggs

There’s a small grocery store called Waitrose, just a one-minute walk from where I live in London, and their eggs are so fresh, they are simply housed on the shelves right next to the cereal and coffee…never refrigerated! I’ve even found feathers still stuck to them.

Waitrose_Magazine_App

Anyway, I digress. Waitrose, like Whole Foods, publishes a fabulous monthly food magazine filled with seasonal recipes and menus that I refer to all the time. If you’re looking to be inspired for your next home-cooked meal, I strongly suggest visiting their website and downloading their new Waitrose Good Food Guide 2016 app for £4.99.

Foodie-Movies

And one more food for thought…what’s not to love about dinner and a movie? Some of my favorite movies happen to be foodie films like: Chocolat, Julie & Julia, Mostly Martha, Big Night, No Reservations and Burnt

Cheers to enticing your palate. Next up: wine. Until then, there’s a wonderful documentary film I recommend called Somm.
