I’m hiding in a corner with air conditioning, trying to find a reprieve from the heat. My dark, tight jeans are glued to my legs from sweat.

A Day in the Life of a Photoshoot

This is the life of a photoshoot stylist and coordinator. It’s running around pulling tags off items, positioning the models just so…while not being able to give in to any of your own basic human needs. You’re dripping in sweat, wiping theirs off their faces, and holding sun reflectors/fanning the models as the photographer’s assistant.

Today’s shoot was able to happen at River Farm, thanks to Tamara’s charm and connections with friends on the property. They enthusiastically and graciously welcomed us to the farm with arms wide open.

This is luxury for us. We have a bathroom, outlets for hair straighteners, and AIR CONDITIONING! Normally we are changing models in cars and trying to keep track of the lip gloss and tags flying off of things.

Our lunch consisted of pizza from DRP in Belle Haven. We sat huddled around the pizza boxes on the bathroom floor. Only some of us had pants on. It’s always a mixture of high stress, because you’re trying to be time efficient and make sure you get the right shots, and hilarity, because you can’t even make up these out takes.

As Stylebook readers, it’s important to know the love that goes into these posts, and blood, sweat, and tears behind each photoshoot. While we haven’t had many tears yet, except for when my car wouldn’t start this morning after loading it with all of the clothes, we always feel so accomplished and excited at the end of a shoot.
