back to school prep: a special event

Like it or not, the signs are becoming quite clear that summer is coming to an end; the commercials for back to school, the change in produce at the farmers market, and the arrival of the September Issue of Vogue (Yay!). I love and hate this time of year for the same reasons I did as a child. Back-to-school is the reality check that cooler weather is arriving and the days are getting shorter but it also represents a fresh start, like hitting the refresh button before the end of the year. And with all fresh new beginnings, you need to come equipped – recalling the days when someone sent THE LIST of what to arrive with on the first day, now we are on our own to figure out what we’ll need come fall. Although I don’t need the same supplies as I did in school, my list is not that far off from middle school and high school.

Three items I just purchased:
PENCIL – a new lip pencil (that matches my natural lip color),
ERASER – my new favorite eraser (for makeup),
CALENDAR – a new calendar; there are a lot of events this fall and keeping track of what I need to do to prepare is my goal.

Ultimately Back-to-School is all about preparation. Just like those crazy squirrels gathering nuts and getting caught in an indecisive moment crossing the street, you don’t want to become seasonal roadkill. Keep your whits about you and start mapping out what needs to occur to make the next few months more about enjoying the fall. Aside from New Year’s Day, there is no better time to tweak your plan of action.

Some things are a given, especially if you are a woman who works in a professional environment. You have to look polished 5 days out of the week in clothes that are stylish, comfortable, affordable ~ and it wouldn’t hurt if they could convert from day to evening. To assist you in preparing for Fall ’15, I want to share some information about an event that will occur September 17th at The Shoe Hive. I have partnered with the Julia Farr Collection and will be presenting the line at our favorite Alexandria shoe boutique.

This collection of clothing is geared specifically for the professional woman. These are proven styles that have received a tremendous amount of positive feedback from Julia’s own client base. I’m very excited to be involved with Julia and feel that her approach to positioning stylists, such as myself, in key cosmopolitan cities is a very effective and personal approach to helping women in their search for quality clothing (Made in the US). I cannot begin to tell you how much I admire Julia Farr and sincerely feel you will enjoy getting to know her and her collection through this opportunity.

Each piece in the Julia Farr Collection is named after a specific place in Washington, DC. The many cultural, historical and natural treasures of our nation’s capital inspire our designs.

The entire collection is made in America.

A few points about Julia Farr and the collection:

-the collection is offered in sizes 0 – 14
-Julia has over 12 years of experience in fashion – her previous career was a corporate securities attorney
-all items are made in the USA.
-the collection won’t be sold in boutiques

Please mark your calendars (September 17th) and contact me directly at alicia@tullebox.net with any questions you may have and request to be added to the guest list – more specifics are soon to come. Elizabeth and I will be pairing the footwear and accessories to compliment the Julia Farr Collection and Julia herself will be giving a short discussion about the line and available to offer guidance throughout the evening. I’m very excited about this exclusive evening to provide some essential pieces to the professional woman’s wardrobe right here in Old Town. If you are not able to attend but are interested in the collection, please let me know and we can arrange a private appointment.

I’m hoping this event will help you with both time constraints (finding time to shop) and available resources (no need to worry about what’s not available – it’s all available!). Shopping in a methodical manner where the selections have been edited and proven to work on a variety of bodies will keep you from feeling overwhelmed. A polished professional wardrobe is well within reach ~ created by women – for women. Hope you can make it.

  1. […] As Alicia wrote earlier, maybe we love this issue so much because it gives us a chance to hit the reset button, time to clean out the closet and get back on a routine. Whether there’s anything true about the theory of an internal fashion equinox or not, fall tends to be most people’s favorite season for fashion shopping. […]
