Krista: Dear Stylebook, Love reading the daily mail from Alexandria Stylebook! How about a “what to wear to Wolftrap?” post? Every time I go I see more and more people dressing for the occasion (vs just throwing on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt). Thanks!
Cathy, Style Speaks: Heading to Wolftrap with a bottle (or two!) of wine, a picnic, and my husband is one of my favorite summer activities. An outfit for the lawn at Wolftrap has to fit two important criteria: one, it has to keep you cool in the summer heat and two, it has to be comfortable enough for sitting on the ground for a few hours. My usual strategy is a maxi dress or skirt, the length of which allows me to sit on the ground without flashing anyone.
This summer, I have embraced shorts as well. Try a dressed up version of the shorts and tee look such as a pair of white shorts and a striped tee. This would also be a great time to try out a romper or casual jumpsuit. Add a pair of fabulous sunglasses and a summer hat to wear until the sun goes down and pack a flowy cardigan or light weight scarf in case it cools off later into the evening.
And, don’t forget to add style to your picnic accessories and gear as well. Hit up Kiskadee for a Turkish towel to sit on, a Swell bottle to keep your water or wine cold, and toss everything into a fabulous beach bag like the one featured in our Top Five this week.
