alicia’s look: prepping for travel

My clients have been taking advantage of their time (and mine) now that summer has arrived. They are either cleaning out closets and purging so when fall comes around, they have both room and ideas in place or they are preparing for trips they are taking which require air travel. Prepping for your vacation or “trip” as we call it at my house, can be hard. Part of the reason is that you are thinking along the lines of your current lifestyle requirements. Have you ever done an assessment of what you actually wore post trip? Once we are “out of town” we let go of the fuss of getting dressed and enjoy the time away (or at least we should).

I find multi-use clothing indispensable when traveling and it’s best to break out of your usual formula to make everything you bring should have purpose for a number of occasions. Here’s one sweater from Kiskadee that is $118. It is three separate pieces: a scarf, a shirt and a sweater. I built a collection of outfits that include air travel for this look. By adding a few key elements that you may already own you get a tremendous “cost per wear” value out of this item (and it will take you into fall!).

This is an ideal sweater for air travel since there are layers when you get too warm or too cold. Slip on some TKees so you can slip them off at TSA easily. Consider an Annabel Ingall bag in buff (either cross body or tote) with some key items from Bellacara so you arrive at your destination looking refreshed and hydrated.

Bracelets both Kiskadee $22 and $36
