Xirena: What Resort Wear Should Be

My friend Ruth Barzel — a local jewelry designer and loyal supporter of small businesses — is one of the most stylish people I know. She is stylish in an understated way, only investing in pieces she feels great in and that she knows she will wear for many, many years. So, when she tells me about a brand she loves, I listen.

The other day, as she shopped our racks of new arrivals, she reminded me that she was the one to tell me about Xirena even before The Hive ever opened. She visits her parents in Seattle frequently and it was there she discovered the perfect white collared shirt by Xirena. A little billowy and very lightweight, its versatility ranged from a beach cover-up to an under-sweater layer. They didn’t have her size in the shirt that day but she has been on the hunt for it ever since. (We now carry it so her hunt has ended!)

At the time, we were exploring a variety of brands in anticipation of opening our clothing store. As luck would have it, Xirena belongs to a showroom where we were already planning on sourcing many of our favorite lines. We had the opportunity to see Xirena in person and we were not disappointed! We are completely enamored with Xirena’s designs and this is the perfect season to buy them!

Designer and founder Dierdre Roffoni created Xirena based on her years of travel to the island of Formentera, Spain. Inspired by the carefree lifestyle of this bohemian environment, a collection of easy-to-wear, island-worthy separates was born. The designer’s objective was to create a line that can be worn at home, on the go, or lounging on the beach. And this is exactly what she has done!

The simple shapes combine prints and colors in lightweight fabrics that you’ll want to wear over and over again.
