what’s up with neoprene?
Liz: I have seen in several places now that clothing and accessories are being made out of neoprene now. Is this a new trend?
Tara: Neoprene is a relatively new trend. We started seeing it in early 2013 but it is becoming more prominently used and will be very evident in the Fall 2014 collections. Neoprene, generally used to make scuba and swim gear, is a synthetic fabric. The appealing part of neoprene being used in fashion is that it is wrinkle-free and easy to pack.
Neoprene trends you will see this summer include sporty form fitted dress, skirts, crops, and sandals.
This Fall you will continue to see neoprene with an architectural and voluminous look. We believe this will be a short-lived and recommend limiting your investment in this trend.
