what to wear: work to play

It’s a common practice to socialize with those you work with after the workday is over. Happy hour, dinner, you name it—-we’ve all had to make the transition from work to play. This isn’t your typical “day to night” transition, either. We have to remain professional while still feeling comfortable enough to be ourselves. How, then, can we reconcile the work-to-play dilemma? This could mean a change of a blouse or simply taking your blazer off to reveal the rest of your adorable, work-appropriate dress. In my case, pants are what I feel most comfortable in, so I swapped my Nicole Miller skirt for Hale Bob faux-leather leggings. By keeping the colors the same as my “day” outfit, I managed to slip into something more comfortable without ditching the whole outfit entirely. I’ve written before about black and white being a timeless color combo, but instead of the little black and white dress, I opted for a crisp, fitted white colored shirt, black bottoms and black pointed-toe pumps (Outfit inspiration: Audrey Hepburn). Sleek, chic, comfortable.
