Dressing for a specific occasion is easy, you know where you are going and there is usually a dress-code of some sort in mind. But what do you wear when you don’t have anywhere particularly special to go? Who knows what the day will bring, what you will end up doing or who you might run into. Knowing how our days go, the possibilities are endless and we may end up going out to run a few errands and then be swayed into stopping by a friends house for coffee or better yet a cocktail on the way home. We love that we live in such a happening place but what do you wear to be able to do it all without having to worry about changing your clothes mid-day? We have the answer. The everyday outfit, a look that can multitask as well as you do on a day-to-day basis.
An everyday outfit is a look compiled with functional pieces that can do it all. They are made up of wardrobe staples that are able to cross the borders between casual and dressy and get you from day to night in the blink of an eye. To us, this is dressing in a great pair of tailored jeans that fit you like a glove. They don’t have to be skin tight but they have to fit your body perfectly. If your favorite jeans are a bit too long or a smidgen too big in the waist think about getting them tailored, it really can make a world of difference. Next, find a few tops that you absolutely love and are flattering to your body. These are tops that you know you could wear during the day but easily dress up with a statement necklace for the evening. Lastly, wear shoes that are comfortable enough for you to run around town in. We usually wear a metallic pair of flat sandals that we could easily get away with wearing at night as well. But we always have pair of neutral wedges in the car just in case!
The everyday outfit is really about finding your own personal style and what you feel most comfortable in because when you feel good about what you are wearing it truly shows in your appearance and in your confidence. When shopping for your everyday look, whether it is in your own closet or in a store, be sure to look for pieces that fit you perfectly and that can multitask. We all lead busy lives and we need our clothing to keep up, so next time you get dressed when you have no idea where the day will go, pull out your everyday outfit and you will be ready for anything!
