what to wear: denim. always denim.

They say old habits die hard. I believe this to be true in fashion as well. We all have things we gravitate toward, things we like. This could explain why some of us have 6 tunics that are almost identical, or the exact same dress 10 times over, varying only in who makes them. But who, I wonder, said this was a bad thing? If you know what you love, you know what you love–but it is vital that we stay open-minded. You can freshen up a tried-and-true look without completely reinventing yourself.

Consider denim, for example. We all own ’em. We also tend to stick to one (maybe two) cuts of jeans that we know and trust. That is okay. You may find yourself bored with the same jeans all the time. That’s okay too. There is a way to rekindle the flame, and that is by having fun with and exploring new ways of wearing your favorite denim styles. Here’s how to find the spark once more.

If you tend to gravitate toward…

…skinny jeans. My personal favorite. Spice them up with a big bag and a bold jacket. The contrast of the bag next to your legs instantly slims!

…boyfriend jeans. Pair them with delicate shoes and a feminine purse. Think boy-meets-girl.

…boot cut jeans. That’s right, folks. They’re back and we are loving every second of it. Pair with your favorite heels to give you the longest, leanest version of your legs. Also, consider wearing a blouse that echoes the 70s vibe to marry the past with the present.
