It’s Time To Talk Winter Hair Maintenance
The cold, windy days of winter can leave our hair and skin feeling drier than a desert. Whether you have fine, thick, medium, curly, wavy, or straight hair, the best thing for our hair is moisture! Hair consists of three primary layers: the roots, the mid-shaft, and the ends. The ends are the most fragile and easily affected by the elements, so it’s important to give them some extra TLC to mitigate splitting.
We recommend using an oil-based deep conditioner/masque at least once every seven days to ensure your locks retain as much moisture as possible. There are many great deep conditioners, but one of our favorites is Karité Conditioner from René Furterer, which is infused with ethical shea butter and oil. Another great option is Vanilla Bean Conditioner by Keratin Complex, and last but not least, Aveda’s Dry Remedy or Damage Remedy may be a good choice if you have thicker hair.
Some other ideas we often recommend are to apply a very light argan oil finish after your blowout or apply it before your blowout while your hair is damp. A light leave-in conditioner spray like Okara from René Furterer is a fantastic go-to in between deep conditioning treatments, especially when it’s dry and cold outside. As far as products go, we prefer a couple mainstays over a cabinet full of products that go unused.
