The ’70s are in full swing this fall!
…Literally! Fringe is certainly no stranger to fall and this year, nothing’s changed.
Fringe has been swinging down the runways for countless seasons–a trend that has never really gone out of style. Worn for centuries by men and women different cultures and in different parts of the world, fringe dates as far back as Ancient Mesopotamia.
Fringe is stylish and relatable no matter the season. In fact, despite its recent resurgence this summer, the trend becomes only more influential come fall. No longer reserved for festivals and vintage collectors, fringe has popped up in the most surprising places. This trim adds a flirty and playful vibe to even the most sophisticated outfits–the trick is to never take it too far. Trendy should never equate “costumey.” If, for example, the fringe itself is too thick or laid on too heavily, you might appear as if you’re auditioning for a Western musical…think “Annie Get Your Gun.”
In other words, avoid piling one fringe item on top of another on top of another. Offset any fringe piece you wear with something simple. Fringe-accented tops and accessories are easy to wear with simple pants, but if you go with a fringe vest and bag, skip your fringe booties that day.
