The week after next Thanksgiving Day will be upon us. If you are anything like me, that means a day of unapologetic sampling of everything from turkey, potatoes, dressing, and pie. And speaking of dressing, what you choose to wear can make or break a year-long anticipated plan to eat freely.
At DC Style Factory, our mantra is purposeful dressing for every occasion, and that includes Thanksgiving, so here’s what we recommend to wear for every type of Thanksgiving Dinner, from formal to dressy casual to, yes, even those super casual dinners that include gathering around the TV for some football!
The goal: to look stylish and polished AND feel comfortable while enjoying Thanksgiving Day, no matter the setting.
Who doesn’t love a gorgeous dress for a special occasion? I don’t — if it means I have to feel uncomfortable or restricted as I work my way through a second helping. A standout dress with a little extra fabric around the tummy area is all you need. The raw silk fabric in this dress gives just enough structure for extra room around the middle; the print gives an added camouflage effect.
Add statement earrings and a strappy nude pointy-toe pump for a Thanksgiving Day outfit to remember.
You can never go wrong with a black legging for a slimming silhouette and a little extra stretch takes a sophisticated look to comfort land. Add a tunic and you’ve got an elegant and roomy match made in heaven, ideal for uninhibited holiday eating.
A classic black canvas deserves a statement necklace and why not add leopard print pump just for fun?
Make your entrance in a sophisticated coat for the start of a perfect holiday dinner.
What Thanksgiving Day would be complete without a little football? If you are heading to a casual holiday dinner, go for a jean with some stretch and a cute, roomy sweater to cover a full tummy and a leather jacket, perfect for the fall chill in the air.
A scarf adds casual sophistication. Add a pair of sneakers that say “I’m stylish AND can catch a ball” and you have the perfect ensemble for an after-holiday-dinner game in the backyard to burn off all the calories!
