Street Style: Marisa González

I met Marisa four years ago at a DC Style Factory spring style event. She had long ombrè hair with bangs, which is so hard for me to even picture now with her signature, edgy, cropped hair!

She was wearing a black jumpsuit with a gold, tribal statement necklace and cage ankle boot heels. I can’t believe I remember all the details of her outfit! Wait, of COURSE I remember all the details of her outfit! She towers over me in flats, but in heels…forget about it. Although we spoke very briefly, she made an impression.

Fast forward several months and I received an email from Marisa wanting to train with me. I was just starting to grow my team, and was still cautious about the process, feeling my way through what this business had been and what it could be.

We embarked on the training together and I immediately knew her passion, integrity, and spirit would be a great fit for what I wanted to do. Building a business is never an easy prospect — especially a type of business that didn’t exist a couple of decades ago. Marisa has been integral to our growth. She brings a youth and edge to her work  that never fails to surprise, impress, and excite me. She is not only a top-notch stylist with a growing list of clients who depend on her to look and feel their very best, but she is always game for anything and everything when it comes to doing what is best for this business. She loves what we do just as much as I do, and I couldn’t ask for more.

What would surprise people about you? I am really good at impressions and accents.

You’re a superhero: what’s your superpower? Batman has always been my favorite superhero because he doesn’t have superhuman powers. But always getting by with my mind, with physical abilities. Yes, I’m a nerd, lol!

Last item bought for your home: I went to Williamsburg with my mom and bought a really fun rug for the kitchen.

Next planned purchase: New fabrics (from Williamsburg, too!) for a couch and chair in my living room.

Favorite way to entertain: I will organize a dinner out for everyone – plan the reservations, etc. Or have people in my home and have everything out, including the desserts, so people can eat whenever they want. I prefer it more low-key.
