ABOUT YOU
How long have you lived in Alexandria? I actually live in DuPont circle, but I’ve worked in Alexandria for about a year now.
What is your hometown? Madison, Mississippi.
What brought you to Alexandria? We moved to the D.C. area three years ago for my husband’s job. I started in a different field here and, after about a year, decided to pursue a longtime dream to work in interior design.
What would surprise people about you? I have a law degree and am licensed to practice in two states, not necessarily the most applicable skill set for this career!
Favorite cocktail: At home, I love a gin and soda with a splash of St. Germaine. My all time favorite drink, however, is the Bardstown Derby (Bourbon + Grapefruit + Lemon + Honey) at Pearl Dive on 14th street.
Last book read or movie seen: The Secret History by Donna Tartt. It was a good one!
Guilty Pleasure: Most definitely fresh flowers. I hardly go without them.
Facebook or Instagram? Instagram!
Latest binge-watch: Narcos – it was fascinating. I highly recommend.
If you only could have one for the rest of your life: wine or coffee? I’m not sure I could get to wine without coffee!
FASHION
Define your style in three words or less: Less is more.
The go-to piece in your wardrobe: Black jeans in the winter and white jeans in the summer. I couldn’t live without either!
Beauty product you can’t live without: Trish McEvoy mascara – it’s seriously the best.
Heels or flats? I have to say that’s a tough call. I’m short, so I love heels but I also have a very low tolerance for foot pain so comfy flats are a must have.
HOME
Favorite room in your home: Definitely our living room. It has bay windows that provide an abundance of natural light, and I’m always partial to a room with a fireplace.
Antiques, modern, or a mix? A mix! I love antiques and grew up running around my Aunt’s antique store in Canton, MS. However, I’m also a sucker for some of the modern pieces.
Last item bought for your home: I’m currently refreshing our bedroom and just had a rug installed.
Next planned purchase: I have a long list, but I’ll probably finish off the bedroom with a headboard and bench next.
Favorite way to entertain: A family-style dinner with close friends.
Clutter-free or well-lived in? We strive for clutter-free, but with a small apartment I would say we wind up closer to well-lived in.
Wallpaper: yes, totally modern or no, so dated: Yes, yes, yes! Love wallpaper.
FITNESS
Your go-to work-out: I love a long walk with a good friend.
ALEXANDRIA
Favorite spot in Alexandria: The Ivy Lane, of course!
Last purchase in Alexandria: A top from Donna Lewis
Best coffee / happy hour / date night spot: I love Misha’s for coffee and Landini Brothers for a date night.
