September Events Calendar
How is it September already?! Labor Day has come and gone and The Patterson Group has mixed feelings about wearing white at this time of year. What we can all agree on, though, is that September will be a crazy month full of many magnificent new listings (read about one of our newest listings here) and fun community events, as well.
First is the 7th annual Taste of Old Town North, hosted by the Old Town North Community Partnership (OTNCP) in cooperation with business owners across Braddock, Parker Grey, the Canal District, and Potomac Green districts. Many local businesses will be offering discounts and hosting events throughout September, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Carpenter’s Shelter. We’ll be purchasing our tickets—$10/person, 2 for $18, $5 for kids 12 and under, and $25 for a family of four—at a Kickoff Event this Friday, September 8th at Canal Center Plaza (44 Canal Center Way) between 5-7pm and hope to see you there! Second is the 9/11 Heroes Run honoring Travis Manion at 9am at Carl Sandburg Middle School, followed by the Waynewood BBQ Cook-Off from 3-7pm, this Saturday, September 9th. You’ll see our team members participating in both! During the Cook-Off, fifteen local BBQ teams will be competing for the sought-after title of “Best in Waynewood” and all proceeds from the event will go to charity. Enjoy a morning run or walk and an afternoon of great food, drinks, and live music by two local bands…and don’t forget to pick up your pink and navy Patterson Group koozies at the Cook-Off!
Third is the MVUnderground Masquerade on Saturday, September 23rd, which you will not want to miss. The black-tie-and-mask fundraiser signals Mount Vernon’s launch of MVUnderground, a new program aimed at young professionals in the area who want to help preserve and celebrate Alexandria’s history. It will take place at George Washington’s Mount Vernon from 6:30-10:30pm, on the Mansion’s East Lawn overlooking the Potomac, and will include live music by local musicians as well as hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, a specialty drink by Farmers & Distillers Restaurant, a fireworks presentation, and a rare look at the basement and the “underground” of the Mansion. No hard hat needed: 8115 Wellington Road will be ready to go for our open house on Sunday, September 24th!
Last but not least is a very special open house extravaganza that we’ll be hosting at our three new-construction homes on Wellington Road on Sunday, September 24th from 2-4pm. Each home features an open floor plan, three levels, more than 4,000 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a 1-car garage, high ceilings, a combined kitchen and family room, a mudroom, optional built-ins, and a large yard and feeds to Waynewood Elementary School.
