Safety Meets Luxury at Claude Marcel Salon
Claude Marcel became passionate about hairdressing at 12 years old while observing his mother and helping his aunt in her hair salon during the weekends. He started his apprenticeship in the salon Jacques Dessange in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. His passion goes so far that he even turned his bedroom into a real hair salon for his friends when he was 15 years old. Claude then went to Paris to work with the famous hairdresser monsieur Dessange as an exclusive hairdresser for television where he styled many personalities from the world of fashion, politics, and cinema.
At the age of twenty-nine, he left France for the United States to work as an artistic director and training manager for Dessange USA in Chevy Chase and New York. In 2013, he founded the salon Claude Marcel. We are excited to share that Claude is one of America’s best hair stylists who was also voted a top ten stylist in Paris for many years.

When you schedule an appointment at Claude Marcel salon, you’ll immediately see how different they are from other salons. Claude and his team of trained specialists are devoted to their guests, and each team member is an expert at what they do.
We call this level of expertise “global beauty,” and it’s what separates Claude Marcel from other hair salons. Global beauty focuses on the entire woman — her overall look, style, and image. Global beauty is not just a single haircut, it’s knowing how to fit the hair to your body, face shape, and skin tone. It’s an all-embracing approach based on the philosophy that beauty isn’t something that comes in one piece. Global beauty is harmony between elements such as hairstyle and color.
When a client enters Claude Marcel salon, they receive a complete consultation similar to when they go to the doctor. The client completes a questionnaire about the way they treat their hair at home, the products they use, and the reason for their visit. Our role is to listen. After the consultation, we observe with some distance to see the length of her hair, the shape of her body, and her personal style. At that moment, our trained stylists show her what is the best fit. As Claude always says, “We create that groomed, ungroomed look; that French chic and sophisticated style that is effortless and modern.”
Claude Marcel has partnered with AVEDA because he believes in their philosophy and products. As part of the AVEDA Artistic team in North America, Claude Marcel trains stylists from around the world in his French technique. AVEDA recognizes and endorses Claude’s technique for the beautiful results it delivers to all women.
Safety First: COVID-19 Protocols
Safety is the new luxury…and at Claude Marcel the well-being of our clients and team is of the utmost importance. In order to provide quality services and ensure maximum safety, we have streamlined our services to minimize contact and practice social distancing. Our commitment is to provide dedicated client care designed to protect you during these unprecedented times.
Please know how very important providing excellent service is to us. The new measures we are taking are temporary until we can get back to the high standards that you have come to expect from us. We hope that will be sooner than later!
We sincerely appreciate your support. This situation has certainly brought on some challenges, but we are determined to rise to the occasion with a positive attitude and high level of professionalism. As these circumstances are ever changing, they will require our constant attention and reevaluation. We ask that you please be patient with us as we make the necessary adjustments.
- • Social Distancing – We are splitting our service providers into shifts (we will be open from 9am-9pm), thereby minimizing the number of people in the building to no more than seven at a given time. This allows each client to have a dedicated room for themselves. We will be operating on the 1/1/1 rule — one service provider/one client/one dedicated room per guest.
- • Temperatures taken – All of our staff will have temperatures checked daily. We will take your temperature when you enter. This is for everyone’s safety.
- • Masks – All of our staff will be required to wear masks. We require that you wear a mask to your appointment and we ask that you wear one that secures behind the ears.
- • Blow-drying – We will be providing in a separated room in order to prevent forceful airflow of any germs.
- • Touchless Greetings & Goodbyes – We will not be shaking hands or hugging at this time. We will, however, continue to warmly welcome you to our salon.
- • Robes – Clients will be handed a clean robe upon entering the salon.
- • No Beverages – We will not be offering any beverages at this time.
- • Limited Items and Guests – We ask that you arrive for your appointment at the time of your appointment and no earlier. Please do not bring any extra guests with you at this time.
