post-pregnancy looks on a budget

Reader: What are some cute/fashionable winter “transition” outfits for post-pregnancy? While yoga pants and sweatshirts and completely acceptable at home, I’d like some ideas on easy, affordable outfits when I venture outside with the mini muffin.

Darby: Dressing after you’ve had a baby can be hard. You’re adapting to having a new member of the family, and you immediately fall to the bottom of your priority list. I first of all commend you for wanting to wear anything but sweatshirts and yoga pants! I’m not sure I would!

Thankfully, there are many options out there for you. Look for tops that are cut just right–not too full where you feel like you’re still wearing maternity tops, but not fitted either. The patterned Hale Bob blouse pictured above is admittedly a bit of a splurge, but it really does flatter all figures and is quite versatile. Lucky Brand has some great cotton everyday tops that might be more in your price range. Wear these with our new denim line, Kut from the Cloth. Go for a skinnier/straight cut to elongate your legs, but the great thing about Kut is that they come in many different styles and are at a really great price point, so experiment a little.

Another great options is to pair a looser blouse with a legging. The high-low Bailey 44 black and white sweater would look rocker-mama-chic (yes, that’s a thing!) paired with our new covetable leggings by Hale Bob with leather trim.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
