What to Pack: Turks and Caicos

When it comes to in-laws, I lucked out. Over the past twelve years, they have been generous, supportive, encouraging, and just downright fun. Especially on vacation! About every other year, they invite my husband and me to join them on a family vacation of some kind. A few years ago it was Costa Rica — some of you longtime readers may remember my posts about that trip. The cost for us is minimal and they always put us up in gorgeous accommodations in even more gorgeous locations. My mother-in-law spends months researching and picking the perfect place — and her persistence pays off!

In a few short weeks, I’ll be traveling to Turks and Caicos for the first time with them and I have finally started to think about what to pack. It helps that we have spring and summer designs rolling in to our stores even as we just received all of our resort wear! There are so many options, but here are the first things I have purchased and packed. Yep, that’s right; I have already started packing because the best part of a trip is the anticipation!

I fell in love with this caftan cover-up the moment I laid eyes on it at market. And now it’s mine, all mine! (There are more in the stores if you want to make it yours, all yours!). When it comes to shoes, I’m weighing my options. These leather sandals by DVF come in powder and gold. Which color should I get? Or do I need both? (Caftan available at The Hive, $138; Sandals, The Shoe Hive, $178)

I don’t plan on packing many separates. There are so many lightweight, easy-to-wear dresses at The Hive right now. Dresses like these. (Dresses available at The Hive, black, $565; white, $285; red, $272. Shoe at The Shoe Hive,)

This is not the first time I have told Stylebook readers about The Beach People oversized round towels and it won’t be the last. They make great gifts and make a day at the beach even more glamorous! My friend Hart Hagerty makes the tassel earrings we’ve carried at The Shoe Hive for a few months now. These dip-dyed blue and white tassels are dying to go with me. (Available at The Shoe Hive, towel, $110; earrings, $68)

I want to take one pair of really fabulous shoes. And I think this one might be the pair. Our spring shipment of Twine and Twig arrived and it’s all soft blues, grays and whites. Any of them would work worn over a white tee (I need to pack that, too) and my swimsuit for a quick lunch. (Available at The Shoe Hive, shoes, $495; necklace, $140)

Finally, The Hive is currently stocked in woven and embroidered totes and clutches. One or several will be coming with me. (Available at The Hive, $50-104)
