on diffusers: tips for use

Candles are best known for setting the mood for a romantic night, adding warmth to a living space and they can even mask unwanted odors in your home…all reasons why we love using candles, but one careless mistake and these mood setters can quickly turn into a tragedy. While we have no intention of avoiding candles, there are times when there is a better, safer alternative. Diffusers are just as attractive and hold their aroma even longer than candles do.

Diffusers are extremely safe and a great way to add a constant fragrance to your home. Instead of lighting a candle, let the diffuser reed soak up the scented oil and disperse the scent into the air. You will be surprised by how well the diffuser works to keep your home smelling nice when you can’t keep an eye on a candle. We love placing diffusers in the foyer, bathrooms and guest rooms since these are places that we don’t frequent as often. Of course we aren’t telling you to get rid of your candles altogether, we still love and use them frequently in our homes, but only in places that we can see them, helping to avoid any hazardous situations.

We put together a list of helpful tips for using diffusers in your home that will help you rest assured that your home will smell wonderful and welcoming without any worries at all.

Use Diffusers instead of Candles
Like we stated before, candles can easily lead to house fires if neglected. Many fire codes in apartment buildings, dorms and office buildings make the use of candles illegal due to the many fires that may cause. It is so easy to forget to blow out a candle but it isn’t easy to reverse the damage that it could cause to your home and family. Diffusers are a great way to enhance the fragrance of a room without an open flame.

Flip Sticks for More Scent
If you want the diffuser’s scent to be even more noticeable, just flip the sticks around for a fresh burst of fragrance.

Fewer Sticks for a More Subtle Scent
In small spaces, like bathrooms, you can use fewer sticks in your diffuser to tone down the fragrance. In larger rooms, use additional sticks to help spread the scent. Remember, too many sticks in your diffuser in a small room can be overwhelming.

Protect Your Tables & Surfaces
Just like a cold beverage glass can leave a stain on a wood table, reed diffusers work best when placed on a coaster. The essential oils in the diffuser can leave marks on wood, so it is best to protect your surfaces by putting something down to protect your surfaces.
