Nestled on the second floor of a historical King Street building, the elegant space is a stylish fusion of modern clinical and French glamour. The crisp interior shines with fresh pastels, chandeliers, and modern glass — you truly feel like you’ve stepped into a hidden gem. And her timing couldn’t be better: winter is perfect for more intensive skincare treatments. Here, we talk with Sarah a bit more about her boutique, her approach, and her beauty philosophy.
What can readers expect at Sarah Akram? What sets you apart?
At Sarah Akram we focus exclusively on the skin – a true esthetician’s atelier. We offer-cutting edge technologies not available anywhere else in the Washington area, but technology is only part of the story. What really set us apart is our expertly trained and experienced master estheticians. We can’t name names, of course, but we are responsible for some of Hollywood’s freshest faces and most flawless complexions.
Hollywood! Well, we’re happy to have you here! Why Old Town?
For ages, to meet client needs, I split my time between New York and DC. But this area is home, and the more I learned about customized skincare, the more I realized that there was a real void for these services in the Washington area.
What exactly do you mean by customized skincare?
We analyze your skin and customize a treatment and home care routine uniquely for you. Products and facial protocols are generally prepackaged, despite unique complexities of an individual’s skin; our approach allows us to go beyond boxed instructions and median standards. Our goal at the boutique is to deliver touchstone services and exemplary facials that raise the bar in the beauty industry.

It is a big goal, but we mean it! We believe in nurturing one’s natural beauty, which starts from the inside out. People must go beyond the surface to promote true skin health. Our quest has been to find the best natural, non-surgical answers to maintain healthy youthful skin, and are excited to unveil these approaches to our clients. Educating our clients on what treatments are available and what approaches they should be taking to look beautiful is important to us.
