welcome our new stylebook members!

Before introducing you to our new members, let us express one last time how sad we are to see Zoe close, and how much we will miss interacting with Susan and her employees on a regular basis. Everything in the store is still 60% off and you have until June 8 to shop. Please support our friends and shop at Zoe Boutique at 130 South Union Street this week.

This does not change that we are very excited to announce two new members of Stylebook: stylists Alicia McCaslin and Cathy Starnes! We put a lot of thought into how to evolve and improve. Actually, we always put a lot of thought into that. But when faced with very big shoes to fill, we decided that the added perspective of stylists would round out our content and provide our readers with practical advice and guidance.

Over the next two weeks, we will introduce Alicia and Cathy to you in greater depth. (Hint: you’ll want to read the next two Street Style segments on Friday!) For now, here’s what we think you should know. They are both Alexandrians. Both experienced stylists. Both incredibly generous and kind women. And both familiar with our stores: Bellacara, Coco Blanca, The Shoe Hive and Kiskadee.

By bringing on two different stylists, we hope to provide two different points of view, as each one has her own style and styling method. They will alternate weeks; one week, Alicia will contribute to our weekly content. The next week, it will be Cathy. They will answer your questions so feel free to email us questions or leave them in the comments. They will write about whatever they feel you should know or whatever has been on their mind. And they will style regular street style segments. We can’t wait to see how Stylebook grows and gains from their contributions! To learn more about Alicia, you can visit her website here. I’m thrilled that Cathy and Alicia are joining Stylebook and already have a question for them! I recently had the good fortune to meet a lovely woman who’s an attorney on the Hill. She’s looking to add a creative dimension to her life and, to that end, is launching a business to bring women on the Hill together for fun, friendship, and fashion by introducing them to independent designers. I’m going to be her first featured designer! Her business launch party will take place at her home later this month. It will be a cocktail party, and she’s asked her friends to all come in their best business attire and model my jewelry at the event. A photographer will also be there taking photos for her soon-to-be-launched website.

So, what should I wear? I need to look “artistic” but also (of course!) chic, put together, and photo ready! Note: I already have a lot of clothes and would prefer to work with what I have in my closet rather than buying something new.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
