New Friends and New Clothes: A Serendipitous Event

Because you all have welcomed The Hive with open arms, maybe even more that we had expected, we were surprised but excited to find only a few weeks after opening our doors that it was clear we needed to build our team. Happily, Alexandria is a small town and it didn’t take long before we heard our friend Megan’s brother was moving to town with his girlfriend who had a background in retail, major style chops, and was interested in working for us. Yahtzee!
Katie — the very talented and very stylish girlfriend — was a perfect fit. She wanted to get back in retail and had the experience we needed to help us step up our game. She was willing to work hard and already sounded invested in the success of the company. Then I find out she and I are both Capricorns and our significant others are both Scorpios. We both have dogs, love Twine and Twig jewelry, and are originally from Texas. I basically decided she and I were going to be new besties before she even ever arrived. (This may still be news to her…)
After she moved to Alexandria, she stopped in for lunch with Elizabeth and me, and graciously agreed to model some clothes for us. Serendipitously, we had just received a delivery from Saloni — a new-to-us brand that has been gaining some traction among fashion insiders. We see Saloni popping up everywhere all of a sudden! Known for its vibrant colors and travel-inspired designs, Saloni pieces are perfect for holiday events without being “thematic.”
It turns out they are also perfect on Katie! When she stepped out of the dressing room in these new garments, we couldn’t believe how perfectly it all came together — the clothes, the shoes, the jewelry, the model!
Katie starts as our Director of Operations mid-November and she has a lot to catch up on during our busiest season of the year! When you see her, give her a hug, welcome her to Alexandria and ask her to pull your size in the Saloni!
