My New Favorite Cleanser
By now, you are all familiar with my favorite face cream by Augustinus Bader. I haven’t veered from the Rich Cream since the day I first tried it. I am a complete convert. My face literally craves it. Okay, when I say I haven’t veered from it since the first day, that isn’t exactly true. I ran out of it for a bit when it was hard to get stock. I went back to my regular face cream for about a month. I had no idea my face would rebel to the extent it did. I mean…full rebellion. Breakouts, red spots, fine lines…need I say more? Within three days of going back to the Rich Cream, it all went away and my skin was singing again. I’m not much of a die-hard, ride or die person on anything other than the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic and Zelens Power A Drops. I can usually find a perfectly suitable stand-in for anything else. But not now. Now I need my Rich Cream. Oh, and my Augustinus Bader “The Cream Cleansing Gel.”
When Augustinus Bader first informed us the company was introducing a cleanser, I couldn’t imagine it would be that spectacular. I mean, a cleanser is a cleanser as long as it takes off your makeup and doesn’t dry your face out, right? Wrong!
The cleanser:
- • Removes dirt, impurities, and makeup without stripping or drying the skin, for a clear complexion;
- • Hydrates, refreshes, and nourishes. It locks in moisture to preserve the skin barrier;
- • It visibly improves skin tone and texture. Smooths imperfections, tighten pores, helps to improve elasticity;

- • Protects the skin from environmental/free radical damage;
- • TFC8® supports cellular renewal, boosts performance of overall formulation, preps the skin for better absorption of subsequent product; and
- • The lightweight, dual cream-gel texture lightly lathers on wet skin.
The new $65 cream-gel wash is formulated with the brand’s signature, patented TFC8 technology, of course — that is: a 40-ingredient cocktail that helps usher key nutrients directly to your skin cells — as well as a rose flower water, cucumber extract, and aloe vera leaf juice. It’s lightweight, hydrating, non-foaming, fragrance-free, and works for all skin types.
Bader, a professor of applied stem cell biology and cell technology at the University of Leipzig, has long celebrated the “shared biology” of our skin, even while also acknowledging its individuality. According to The Zoe Report, the tagline for a 2019 campaign was “7.5 Billion Skin Types. One Cream.” The idea behind The Cream Cleansing Gel — and all Augustinus Bader products, for that matter — is that it’s suitable for the bone-dry and oiliest of us all.
