make an entrance (or an exit)

As a lover of capes my whole life, I was thrilled to find that capes were a hot trend for fall. Modern takes on this traditional silhouette allow all of us to channel our superheroine while maintaining a stylish and elegant look.

New York based label, Contrarian, incorporated the cape in both a stunning blouse and an incredible trench coat. Let’s fact it, a cape is NEVER boring!

The Cate Caped Top provides a dramatic flourish to everything from jeans to pants to a pencil skirt. And the cape trend also translates to make the boring trench coat a powerful fashion statement. No more bunching fabric at the back belt line with this inspired design!

I have my own cape story to share.

Interviews for Resident Assistant jobs at college were held in the dead of winter for the following year. Dressed up for my second-round interview with a potential Head Resident, I searched for the right coat. I chose the off-white wool cape that I normally reserved for winter formals. Waiting in the hallway for my interview, there was nowhere to hang it, so I kept it on as I strode in for the interview. We had a wonderful conversation and I left feeling upbeat.

Following a third-round interview with senior staff, that Head Resident chose me for his team. During our social, he told me, “You had a great interview. And I couldn’t forget that cape.”

Be Unforgettable.
