the key to a great room

Coco Blanca’s passion for living well takes into account the importance of picking out the perfect rug. We have chosen two rug companies as well as some accent hide rugs to represent in our store because they fit perfectly into our design aesthetic. They bridge classic and modern elements giving the room pattern without overwhelming it. We love the muted scheme of both companies. The above sisal rug is from Merida with a “stratum” pattern and “glacier” color representing all the elements that we love. Both companies offer affordable prices.

We also carry Barrier Island Rugs. This company gives a more casual feel, perfect for your family room, or second home. Barrier Island Rugs carry cotton and wool lines. They can be completely custom but have a standard offering as well.

Two questions many of our clients ask: “Should you select the rug first, allowing it to set the style and color scheme for the interior?” and “Do you create your design and then add the rug as the finishing touch?” We have found that either method works, although selecting the rug first can set the foundation for the entire design scheme.

We recommend placing your rug on hard floored surfaces to avoid bunching. Adding a pad underneath your rug will add softness and secure the position, although the above picture shows how throwing an accent rug on top of sisal can add the extra pizzaz and shimmer your room may need. Coco Blanca carries silver and gold metallic hides as well. This layered look is high on our recommendation list. Just anchor it with a piece of furniture on top.

Before you shop for your rug, measure your room and determine the size of the rug that will fit best. There are no definitive rules as to the amount of floor you should leave showing. It depends on the look you are going for. The rug can define conversation and living areas. Standard size rugs are usually more cost effective so that can be a determining factor as well.

chain link rug

One of our favorite choices, this chain link patterned wool rug from Merida, can be the focal point of your room providing color and pattern.

This gorgeous room is anchored by the Mandacaru pattern in sisal by Merida. This has a bit of pattern but allows the larger pattern of the ottoman to dominate the room. Notice how it covers most of the floor in the room giving it that zen feel.

Pure, by Merida, is a fabulous new flooring solution for those striving to create a healthy, safe and environmentally friendly atmosphere, without sacrificing comfort or style, with beautifuly woven wool carpet. You will rest assured that you are providing the best for your family while not breaking the bank.

sisal on step

This sisal and wool on stairs will pair beautifully with a patterned rug in the foyer. The perfect welcome to your home.

Both companies have many many colors and designs from which to choose. We can help you find the perfect fit for your home.
