How you arrange the furniture in a room will instantly set the tone for how you will live in that space. It really plays a huge role in making your home livable and enjoyable. The type and style of furniture that you choose for your home also says a lot about you and your family and should be a reflection of your family’s personal style and taste. And as we evolve, so does our taste and we have found it helpful to spruce up a room in our home each season to keep things fresh and new.
There are so many simple ways you can freshen up your decor such as adding updated throw pillows, changing out the artwork on your walls or by switching up your paint color but we have found a new way to spice things up and it doesn’t involve a lot of sweat equity either! We have recently fallen back in love with the classic club chair and have found different and exciting ways to incorporate these comfy chairs into each room in our homes. The best part is that this update is extremely functional and makes a huge style statement too.
Bedroom: Create a serene oasis for yourself in the corner of your bedroom with a classic club chair and ottoman combination. Just add a side table for your coffee mug and a cozy blanket to snuggle up in and you have a lust worth reading nook, that will be only yours! That is until you find your husband reading his morning paper there…then you might have to consider finding him his own reading oasis!
Formal Living Room: An easy way to freshen up your formal living room is by simply re-arranging the furniture you have currently. Try moving things around to give the room a different feeling, it may be all that it needs. Or you may realize that you could benefit by adding in a single arm chair that compliments the decor of the room. You don’t want to overcrowd the space with furniture by any means but if there is room for one chair or a pair of chairs, it will be well worth the investment and your guests will surely thank you!
Informal Living Room: This is a space where you want your family and guests to be able to kick back and feel comfortable. This room was meant for movie nights, pizza parties and to play with the kids, so it is all about comfort and function in this area of the home. Of course you will need a big comfy couch but you will also need a few sitting chairs as well, to make sure you are able to accommodate all of your guests. Finding a chair that is durable and can take a bit of a beating is key. The reality is, popcorn will be spilled, a can of coke might tip over and kids will certainly be bouncing on it, so this is a chair that should be prepared for the abuse that it will endure.
Office: Spending countless hours sitting at a desk, staring at a computer screen can wreak havoc on your eyes and your back. So when a call comes in during the day, wouldn’t you rather kick back in a comfy chair instead? Having a club chair in your office is a wonderful way to offer up additional seating or also doubles as a relaxing place to take a break from reading emails. This might also be a great place to add the “second reading-nook” we were speaking of earlier.
