Top 5 Home “Wish-list” Items Post Quarantine

Over these last few months, we have spent more time in our houses than ever before. The value of our home as both a safe refuge but also as a treat has never been more important. As a result, the things we love about our homes and the things we maybe wish we had, have become glaringly obvious. During quarantine we have had many discussions with clients, family, and friends on what they are missing, what they wish they had, and even things they could do without! Each conversation has been unique to that person, however, there have been a few “wants” that have carried throughout. So, whether you are thinking about renovating your current home to meet your new needs or looking to buy something else, it may be a good idea to make sure the home includes a few of the following:

Mud Room

A place to drop all the germs, shoes, pet items, coats, keys etc. in an organized and sanitary space that is cleaned frequently and confines germs.

616 S Washington St.

Outdoor Space

Whether it’s a yard, balcony, porch, deck, or patio the ability to get fresh air and grow a few herbs or potted plants is in high demand. And, for our beloved pets, pet owners are seeking a private grassy area where your pet can go off leash while you meet the social distance requirements. (Pet and foster care adoption is up 70 percent!)

108 N Payne St.

Home Office

A space in your home that says “I am at work” that defines for you and your family the difference between “working from home” and “being at work.” With more than one family member working from home we are finding a higher demand for doors on this space as well.

8016 Wellington Rd.

Kid’s Study nooks, lofts, or rooms…

Often with built in desks and in a bright cheerful part of the home. This is a quiet space where kids can complete schoolwork or learn from the variety of resources online. This space is often close to where parents can pop in and out to ensure both safety and that the work is being done.

8046 Washington Rd.

Pool

The search for homes with pools is up 97 percent this year. Prior to coronavirus pools were seen as a liability (increased insurance costs and safety) but now that the public pool may be deemed more dangerous and the safety equipment is more reliable, buyers are looking for pools again!
