This time of year with holiday parties in full swing, many of you want to know how to pair your make-up with the festive attire of the season. We love a bold lip, sparkle and shimmer and a smokey eye. We just don’t love it all at the same time.
If you are going to go for a smokey eye, it’s best to tone down the lip. A pretty nude or a soft pink gloss pair beautifully and make the look more sophisticated than when paired with a dark lip.
When going for a bold lip in red or burgundy, we’re fans of a softer eye shadow. We love a soft peach or taupe with a little white highlighter in the inner eye area. This really softens and brightens the eye. Add a tight line of black eyeliner to deepen the lash line from the corner of the eye to the iris. Gorgeous!
For those of you who love a little (or a lot) of shimmer, we generally advise keeping it to either the eyes or the lips. We love a super shimmery eye with a matte lip or a matte shadow with a sparkly lip. The balance makes for an elegant look. However, if done with nude shades and a light hand like on Amanda Seyfried, we’re definitely ready to make an exception.
