Gifts that Make a Difference
Back in September, I wrote about my journey in developing a clothing and lifestyle brand by the name of Threads by Nomad. We had just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise startup funds, and to my surprise we were successful in meeting our goal! We hired our tailor and our embroiderer to produce our first collection (which you can shop here), and we started making connections with artisans to develop custom fabrics for our second collection.
Our Kickstarter campaign taught us a lot about our own products. We learned which pieces were most popular (the skirt!) and which pieces needed some tweaking. We expanded the color options in our tank top, and most importantly we learned we needed to broaden our offerings to include items at a lower price point. These more affordable pieces would ensure that anyone who wanted to invest in our message and mission would be able to.
Just a few weeks ago, we launched a small selection of giftables all priced under $100. These items include a handmade clutch available in three colorways in our signature mud cloth fabric. (You can shop it here.) We also included pillowcases (with or without the pillows) priced under $50. It turns out our gifts have been wildly popular. We are working hard to expand this category and will soon launch hand-painted silk scarves by an Azerbaijani artist living in Houston.
The goal of our small company is to spread a message of celebrating diversity through design and our mission is to have a positive social impact in the United States and around the world. The Clutch
Our mudcloth is not mass produced and therefore every piece is different in design. We can guarantee the colors but we cannot guarantee that your clutch will look exactly like the one pictured here. In fact, we guarantee that it will not! But that’s the beauty of purchasing one-of-a-kind pieces, is it not?
Every 12”x8” clutch is fully lined and comes with an inside pocket and hand-embroidered label. After reaching out to our customers to get feedback on whether or not they wanted a loop handle, we decided to make it removable. The clutch can easily be used with our without the loop handle, and the handle can serve as a keychain if not used on the bag.

The Pillow
Our pillowcases comes without a pillow ($29) or with a pillow ($39) for convenience.
Pictured on our website are the white and black pillows. If you like the blue or brown mudcloth seen in other parts of our collection, you can go ahead and order a blue or brown mudcloth pillow. We are working on getting photos of them and will have them uploaded just as soon as possible!
