get to know a neighborhood: waynewood

As a real estate agent, I get to see all the great neighborhoods of Alexandria. But since you may not know some of these special enclaves, we’ve decided to start a series: Get to Know a Neighborhood. First up, my own neck of the woods: Waynewood.

Waynewood is a little hidden jewel tucked within the 22308 zip code. A special community that runs between the George Washington Memorial Parkway and Fort Hunt Road, Waynewood’s houses were primarily built in the late 1950s and 1960s. Streets are tree-lined, with some trees dating back hundreds of years—literally! Many houses in Waynewood have been remodeled, reinvented, and reinvigorated over the years but still maintain the traditional look and feel of the neighborhood.

In addition to a beloved elementary school located on Waynewood Boulevard, Waynewood boasts a beautiful pool (Go Waynewood Dolphins!) and tennis club. Waynewood is a very open, friendly, and welcoming neighborhood. Neighbors aren’t just neighborly—they are good friends. Block parties, neighborhood BBQ cook-offs, Halloween parades, Fourth of July festivities and the like are all commonplace. I have yet to meet a person that doesn’t just love living here.

The uniqueness of Waynewood makes you feel like you have stepped back in time to when everything just seemed a little simpler. A quick three-minute car ride takes you to Hollin Hall Shopping Center, where you can find almost anything you need. Come visit Waynewood and see the happy energy of this special place for yourself!

Love where you live? Let us know and it may be the next neighborhood we feature!
